Active schools - why does it matter?
Active children do better in every possible way. Physical activity can increase attendance rates and levels of concentration, helping kids perform and behave better.
Broxtowe Active Schools brings new and exciting sports and activities to primary and secondary schools to give children more opportunities to get active, have fun and learn new skills.
We manage a multi-sports coaching programme on behalf of schools by commissioning coaches and instructors to support school staff to deliver enhanced physical education and school sport.
All primary schools in Broxtowe currently receive premium funding which must be used to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport on offer. All services provided by Broxtowe Active Schools can be funded through the premium. The following offers have been developed in consultation with local head teachers, PE subject leaders, and sport specialists.
All schools in Broxtowe currently recveive access to the free School Games Programme, which is funded my the DCMS and Sport England, and currently agreed until September 2020. Schools are also able to access additional services provided by Broxtowe Active Schools, with details available here.
